Basil the Redfoot Tortoise

Basil the Red Foot tortoise (she/her) was hatched on July 1, 2000 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Tortoises like Basil that come from breeders are called "captive or domestically bred." Tortoises that are taken from the wild are called "wild captured." It was important to us that we acquire a domestically bred tortoise, because wild capturing causes cruelty to tortoises and results in the decimation of native populations. Although she takes a lot of care, Basil is a wonderful addition to our family.
